Ms. Balunda was an active member of DFW Wedding Professionals, further demonstrating her versatility and commitment to hospitality and event planning.
Exceptional academic accomplishments have proven foundational to Ms. Balunda's multifaceted career, and she proudly earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Education from The University of Texas at Austin in 1975. Another significant aspect of her work and personal mission is the persistent promotion of mental health awareness. After overcoming personal challenges with depression and anxiety, she became a passionate advocate for others; to this end, at her pie shop, she encourages patrons to write letters to those struggling with mental health issues through a partnership with a community health center. Notably, Ms. Balunda also pays monthly visits to the center to provide meals, toiletries the "love notes" that her pie shop guest write and other essential items to those in need. Toiletries and little gifts are purchased from donations to JudyPie.
