WILLIAMSVILLE, NY, August 14, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Oliver Young has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Driven to become an attorney from a very young age, Mr. Young earned a Bachelor of Science in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1976. Upon graduating, he joined the Wisconsin Depart of Revenue's Bureau of Systems and Data Processing. As computer programmer/analyst, he wrote COBOL programs on IBM mainframe computers, maintained and updated existing application programs, and consulted with users to resolve issues and concerns. Subsequently, Mr. Young expanded his professional knowledge, earning a Juris Doctorate degree in 1980 from the School of Law of the State University of New York at Buffalo.
During the early stages of his legal career, Mr. Young worked as a principal court attorney for the Eighth Judicial District of the New York State Supreme Court. In this capacity, he managed the court's prisoner litigation calendar, served as a law clerk for the judges of the Supreme and Erie County courts, and prepared decisions and orders connected with post-conviction motions. In the l 980's, he returned to school, earning a Master of Arts in economics from SUNY at Buffalo. After nearly four decades in service to the NYS Supreme Court, Mr. Young joined the law firm Barclay Damon LLP as counsel and was assigned to the Commercial Litigation Practice Group with focus in the torts and products liability defense practice areas.
A seasoned attorney backed by years of varied experience, Mr. Young now excels as a senior trial attorney with the Law Office of John V. Elmore, P.C., working as a personal injury lawyer now for plaintiffs rather than for the defense. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, he aligns himself with the New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Bar Association of Erie County. In conjunction with his work, Mr. Young also dedicates himself to his community as a member of the Erie County Fiscal Stability Authority (a New York State created control board), a member of the board of directors for the Center for Elder Law & Justice, and a member of the board of trustees for the Town of Amherst Public Libraries.
While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Young has taken the most pride in being a member of the New York State Bar Association's Law Youth and Citizenship Committee since 1986. For the past 15 years, he has been the chief writer and drafter of the case materials for the New York State Bar Association's High School Mock Trial Competition. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to his perseverance. Within the coming years, Mr. Young intends to experience his career's continued growth and success.
