Mr. Vazquez has dedicated over 45 years to his profession, making significant contributions in the fields of pharmaceuticals and medical devices. He is currently associated with a North Carolina Community Health Center system. In this role, he focuses on community-based health care, particularly serving the immigrant and Hispanic communities. His primary objective is to bridge the communication gap between patients and doctors, ensuring that patients fully understand their diagnoses, necessary procedures and treatments.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Vazquez was involved with Komet USA LLC from 2021 to 2024, where he specialized in dental rotary instruments and endodontics. Additionally, he served as the marketing director for AudPractice Group LLC, (a hearing device and service company), in 2021 and as a senior product marketing manager for advanced and acute wound care at Essity between 2014 and 2020.
Mr. Vazquez's earlier career includes roles such as the director of marketing at Unified Wealth Strategies LLC from 2008 to 2014 and the director of business development and marketing expansion at Convatec, a Bristol Myers Squibb company, from 2004 until 2008. His long career includes various positions at ER Squibb & Sons LLC starting in 1985, including sales roles for five years before transitioning to medical devices.
Laying the groundwork for Mr. Vazquez's professional endeavors was his academic background and supplemental coursework, which include a bachelor's degree in applied science from the University of Puerto Rico. In 2008, he completed a course in business management, marketing and related support services through the Market Plan in Action: Marketing Strategy program at Bristol Myers Marketing Excellence. Additionally in 2008, he undertook coursework in human resources management and services, as well as business process planning and managing employee performance. He furthered his education by completing an executive leadership program at the Levinson Institute for Business Leaders and Executives at Harvard Business School in 2009.
Mr. Vazquez holds several certifications that have bolstered his professional expertise, including becoming a ICAgile certified professional and obtaining PMC-I status from the Pragmatic Institute, both in 2022. He also holds many LinkedIn certifications, such as brand and marketing integration and leading a marketing team, acquired in 2021. His commitment to continuous learning is evident through these achievements.
During his career, Mr. Vazquez has been recognized with numerous awards, including Go-getter Awards for Top Sales, Marketing Awards, Top Performer Award and Top-Rated Employee in his specific business area. Outside his professional life, he is an advocate for children through Court Appointed Special Advocates, (CASA), and has been involved with Jersey Shore cleanup and relief since 2012. Throughout his life, he has been influenced by the hardworking example set by his parents. Another influential figure in his life was his uncle, Dr. Joseph Fernandez, who understood entrepreneurship from a young age. His uncle started shining shoes at a very young age to help his family and even got his friends involved, investing their earnings in equipment and sharing the profits. Today, Dr. Fernandez holds the distinction of being the first Puerto Rican to be appointed as the executive director at Greenpoint Hospital in Brooklyn. He was one of the youngest and first Latino directors at a NYC Hospital. Additionally, he was hailed as a hero for rescuing people from a burning car in New York City. Dr. Fernandez went on to become a chiropractor, providing guidance and support to his children and nephews, and serving as a role model for them. Many of them went on to become Chiropractors themselves under his mentorship.
Looking ahead, Mr. Vazquez aims to continue learning and hopes to become a licensed interpreter/translator. He is also contemplating writing a book based on his extensive experiences. His career journey reflects his unwavering commitment to improving patient care through innovative medical solutions while continuously seeking opportunities for personal growth and community service.
