Retained by a senior employee facing personal challenges, he successfully oversaw a nationwide issue that settled for $125 million. This case not only provided financial relief to his client but also led her to establish a successful rehab company. The case propelled Mr. Newman into similar cases across the country involving companies defrauding the government by skilled nursing service companies. His work has since focused on representing senior-level employees in cases of stock market manipulation and financial misstatement to the Securities and Exchange Commission. Additionally, he litigates cases privately for the government under the False Claims Act.
Mr. Newman's academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in communications from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1973 and a Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School in 1982. He later earned a Master of Business Administration in business from Suffolk University-Sawyer Business School in 2009.
