As the chief administrative officer at the Medical University of South Carolina Health (MUSC Health), he oversees various aspects of health care operations, including health system integration, programmatic and product development, and performance management. Dr. Robinson's role also involves establishing goals and strategies to ensure high performance and drive leadership accountability.
Before his current position, Dr. Robinson's career at MUSC Health was marked by a series of progressive roles, beginning in 2011 as an administrative intern. He was the manager of operations and program management, director of program management, administrator for performance services, health solutions, and health and wellness, and adjunct faculty member. From 2010 to 2011, Dr. Robinson also worked as a project management officer and consultant at the Small Business Support Center.
Dr. Robinson's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in biology from Erskine College in 2011. He also earned a Master of Health Administration in health care administration and a Doctor of Philosophy in health and rehabilitation science from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2013 and 2020, respectively. Dr. Robinson's certifications further underscore his expertise. He holds a Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute, and an IHI certification in leadership, patient safety, and quality improvement.
Adding to his expertise, Dr. Robinson's professional affiliations include membership in the Project Management Institute, the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Society for Human Resource Management, Alpha Eta, and Upsilon Pi Delta. He is also a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and has been an examiner on the Malcolm Baldridge board of examiners since 2021. Outside his professional life, Dr. Robinson is actively involved with various community and professional organizations and enjoys mentoring, teaching and coaching.
