Mr. Martinez began his career serving as an assistant corporation counsel in the administrative law division of the New York City Corporation Counsel's Office from 1993 to 1999. In 2002, he took on the role of chief disciplinary counsel at the New York City Department of Homeless Services. Later in the same year, he transitioned to the New York State Office of Court Administration as an associate general counsel, where he served until 2007.
From 2007 to 2016, Mr. Martinez was an assistant general counsel at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. In this capacity, he led efforts to ensure compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity rules and regulations and managed disciplinary matters within the department. Throughout his career, he is most proud of the role he played in this department.
Furthering his expertise in the field, Mr. Martinez is a member of several industry-related organizations, including the New York State Bar Association and the United Nations Security Council. Additionally, he has been a member of the board of the New York City Environmental Control Board since 2008, contributing his legal expertise to environmental regulatory matters.
Academically, Mr. Martinez holds a Bachelor of Science in English and journalism from Baruch College and a Juris Doctor from Rutgers Law School in 1993. Beyond his formal education, he attributes his success to his perseverance and the support of his family, particularly his brother and mother, Paula Martinez.
In recognition of his professional accomplishments, Mr. Martinez has received an Excellence Award. In his personal life, he enjoys traveling, running and reviewing films, particularly westerns and comedies from the 1930s and 1940s.
