Dr. Patrick, an esteemed expert in American history, has dedicated his career to educating others and contributing to the academic community. For the past nine years, he has served as an adjunct history instructor at Sandhills Community College, where he teaches American history. His journey in education spans several decades and includes various roles that have shaped his expertise and teaching philosophy.
Dr. Patrick began his career in the media industry as an account executive at WFIS-AM, Tribune Times in 1981, followed by a similar role at WTOB-AM later that year. In 1982, he transitioned to a sales assistant position at WGHP-TV, where he worked until 1983. He also served as a research assistant at Arbitron Ratings Company and WHNS-TV from 1983 to 1984.
After completing these roles and devoting significant time to his education, Dr. Patrick's passion for history led him to academia, where he held positions as an adjunct history instructor at High Point University in 2000 and Greensboro College in 2001. From 2002 to 2004, he also worked as a substitute teacher for Chatham County Schools before joining Randolph Community College as an adjunct history instructor from 2004 to 2010. Since 2011, he has continued his role as a substitute teacher for Chatham County Schools while concurrently teaching at Sandhills Community College.
Dr. Patrick's academic achievements are extensive and have significantly contributed to his success. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy in history from the University of South Carolina in 2000, a Master of Arts in history from the University of North Carolina Greensboro in 1993 and a Bachelor of Arts in history and journalism from the University of Georgia in 1980. Complementing his education, his strong work ethic and constant pursuit of knowledge have been pivotal in his career success.
Throughout his career, Dr. Patrick has been recognized for his scholarly contributions and intellectual achievements. One of his proudest accomplishments is having his work published, which gives him a great sense of fulfillment. Additionally, he is proud of being inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and participating as a member of Mensa International, both significant achievements in his field.
Dr. Patrick contributes civically as a sponsor for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
