Before becoming the owner of the pub in 2007, Ms. Kelly's journey with Powell's Steamer Co. & Pub began when she worked for Bob and Judy Powell at Powell Brothers, which was founded in 1987. Thereafter, when the Powells decided to retire, Ms. Kelly and her daughter Ericka took over the business. However, due to her daughter's parenting responsibilities, Ms. Kelly has been managing the business single-handedly with the support of her husband, Tim.
As a result of her determination, perseverance and deep commitment to the business, Ms. Kelly has been able to overcome numerous challenges throughout her career and reach a level of success, both personally and entrepreneurially. Outside of her experience working in the restaurant industry and for the Powells, her educational background includes a high school diploma and a cosmetology license. Such achievements have contributed to her success by providing her with a strong foundation and diverse skill set.
In addition to her responsibilities as a business owner, Ms. Kelly is actively involved in civic-minded organizations. Specifically, she participates in benefit bartending for the local woodworking class, demonstrating her dedication to community service and support for local educational initiatives. Outside of her professional life, Ms. Kelly enjoys camping and is also a devoted mother to two children and two stepchildren.
Day to day, Ms. Kelly aims to balance her family life with her business commitments. Looking ahead, she is enthusiastic about expanding Powell's Steamer Co. & Pub into a thriving and widely recognized business over the next several years. Eventually, she plans to pass the business along to a younger individual, who will lead the business into its next chapter, as she considers retirement to spend more time with her husband Tim, daughter Erika, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
