Ms. Schoenig attributes much of her accomplishments to her mother, who grew up when women's career choices were limited. Her mother consistently emphasized the importance of education and self-reliance from a young age, instilling in Ms. Schoenig the value of acquiring a skill and never depending on others for financial stability. As the first person in her family to earn a four-year degree, she hopes to set a similar example for her daughters.
