Dr. Armstrong is a full professor at Purdue University, where she has dedicated 22 years to teaching and research in the field of English literature, with a specialty in medieval studies. She joined Purdue University in 2002, and Dr. Armstrong's broad responsibilities include teaching literature courses, conducting research and engaging in conversations about educational reform to make learning more accessible.

Known for her dedication to students, Dr. Armstrong often holds supplemental office hours to provide additional support. She also brings a wealth of valuable teaching experience to the student community at Purdue, as before accepting her current appointment, Dr. Armstrong thrived as a faculty member at California State University, Long Beach from 2000 to 2002.

Exceptional academic credentials have proven foundational to Dr. Armstrong's advancement. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from Stanford University in 1994 and subsequently pursued a terminal degree in her field. Dr. Armstrong is proud to now hold a PhD in English literature with a focus on medieval studies from Duke University, where she graduated in 1999.

With a focus on productive networking and collaboration, Dr. Armstrong is actively involved in several distinguished organizations. She holds a seat on the executive board of the flagship journal The International Arthurian Society, for which she also serves as an editor of author submissions. Additionally, Dr. Armstrong conducts outreach and contributes to her field through sustained memberships in the Early Book Society, the International Courtly Literature Society and the Modern Language Association.

Dr. Armstrong's passion for teaching and her high standards have been recognized through numerous awards, including the prestigious Charles B. Murphy Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Education from Purdue University in 2017, among other accolades throughout her career. Dr. Armstrong attributes her success thus far to a dedication to sharing her research findings with others and the support of mentors like Bonnie Wheeler, who provided an inspiring example of women helping each other in academia.

Through a deep motivation to expand her mentorship role, Dr. Armstrong continues to make significant contributions to the field of higher education. Notably, her positive impact is exemplified by several contributions to The Great Courses, for whom she has produced a series of lectures on topics such as King Arthur, the Black Death and the medieval world. Equally as committed to addressing gender disparities in academia, she co-founded The Bonnie Wheeler Fellowship Fund in 2019, which supports female academics by providing assistance in completing projects and advancing their careers from associate to full professor rank. Outside of her professional life, Dr. Armstrong is dedicated to her husband and twin daughters, and she enjoys being a sports fan and traveling with her family.
