Before his tenure at IBM, Dr. Sipcic was a senior scientist at RWD Technologies Inc. from 1995 to 2000, which was later acquired by GP Strategies Corporation in 2010. In this role, he contributed significantly to developing IT solutions that enhanced his architectural skills. Previously, Dr. Sipcic was the director of engineering initiatives with Mathematica at Wolfram Research between 1993 and 1995, where he specialized in symbolic computing and published numerous papers on the subject.
Dr. Sipcic's academic tenure includes a distinguished period as an associate professor at Boston University's College of Engineering from 1987 to 1993. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he conducted funded research on helicopter aerodynamics for the Air Force and NASA, and also served as the Director of Graduate Admissions for two years.
Dr. Sipcic's educational journey began with a Diplom-Ingenieur in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sarajevo in 1976. He subsequently earned both a Master of Science and a Doctorate in Aeronautics from the University of Belgrade in 1980 and 1984, respectively. In 1989, he was awarded a prestigious Fulbright postdoctoral scholarship to conduct research in aeronautics at Boston University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Additionally, Dr. Sipcic holds professional credentials as an Open Group Certified Distinguished Architect and is recognized as a Level 3 Thought Leader under IBM's Architect Profession Certification.
In addition to his degrees, Dr. Sipcic remains actively engaged in his field as a member of several industry-related organizations, such as the Association of Mechanical Engineers, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
Among various notable accomplishments, Dr. Sipcic has made significant contributions through his publications, conferences, and patents. He is the author of several influential works, including: "AWS-Based Enterprise Digital Transformation Platform" in 2020, "Evolutionary Event-Driven Architecture for Accelerated Digital Transformation" in 2021, and "The Future of AI: Service Meshes and Autonomous Leaming in Generative AI" in 2024.
