In 2020, Mr. Richardson was the national head of health, safety and environment at The Roof Depot Inc. In the previous year, he worked as a health, safety and environment inspector, auditor and incident investigator for a federal contractor and as an environmental health safety specialist for TSAY Federal Contractor Group. Between 2018 and 2019, he served as an assistant to the health, safety and environment director, project manager and supervisor and as a specialist for Alcon Laboratorios.
Mr. Richardson's earlier career various includes roles, such as environmental health and safety coordinator for Golden State Foods from 2017 to 2018 and short-term safety and training coordinator for the same company. He also worked as a safety adviser for Zee Medical, held various positions at McKesson Corporation, served as an outside account representative for NWG Mobile Drycleaner and was an account representative for MTE Linen Service from 1995 to 2000.
Mr. Richardson's educational background includes a master's degree in occupational safety and health from Columbia Southern University in 2015 and a Bachelor of Science in industrial education from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in 1986. He attributes his overall professional success to the values of his parents and grandparents who taught him the importance of doing a job well or not doing it at all.
Throughout his career, Mr. Richardson has earned numerous certifications, including a partner and certified American Heart Association and National Safety Council trainer with First Aid and Safety Training of Atlanta since 2016. He is also a certified CAT forklift instructor through Caterpillar Inc., a mobile elevating work platform certified train-the-trainer through Premier Platforms Inc., OSHA#510 certified through Florida Safety Council and holds several other certifications related to construction safety management, COVID-19 awareness and accident investigation.
Mr. Richardson has also made significant contributions to his field through his publications. He authored "How to Start/Prove A Youth Ministry in A Small, Medium & Mega Church" in 2017 and has written more than 10 articles for professional journals. His work also includes a comprehensive self-assessment for another company's publications and a serious injury fatality assessment presented at a manufacturing symposium in Johns Creek, Georgia.
In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Richardson is a member of several industry-related organizations, including the American Society of Safety Engineers, the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance and the National Safety Council. His dedication to his field is further evidenced by his receipt of a certificate of appreciation from Fort Eisenhower, among other accolades throughout his career.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Richardson enjoys spending time with his family and listening to biographical audiobooks about political figures. Looking ahead, he envisions moving into a new home as he plans for his youngest child to enter college. While he is considering continuing to work due to his passion for his job in safety, he aspires to be financially prepared for retirement.
