With over a decade of professional experience, she founded Modern Legal in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2020. Leveraging her former success to propel her career forward, Ms. Viera was an attorney at two family law firms in the Charlotte area from 2012 to 2020. Before earning her law degree, she found success as a legal writer, orator and researcher with the University of North Carolina School of Law Immigration and Human Rights Policy Clinic from 2011 to 2012 and as a student assistant to the director of a Seton Hall Law School study abroad program in Amman, Jordan, in 2011. Ms. Viera also gained valuable experience as a legal intern at the North Carolina District Attorney's Office, 13th District, in Bolivia, North Carolina, in 2011.
Ms. Viera earned a Bachelor of Arts in international affairs and political science from George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs in 2008 and a Juris Doctorate from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2012. She was admitted to practice by the North Carolina Bar in 2012, and in 2022, the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission designated her a certified family financial mediator.
Ms. Viera is an active member of numerous industry-related organizations, including the 26th Judicial District Bar, the Mecklenburg County Bar Association's family law section, and the American Bar Association.
Active in her community, Ms. Viera has served on the board of Playing For Others since 2018 and is active in the Charlotte Area Chamber of Commerce. She was previously involved with organizations like Justice Initiatives Inc., Caroline Calouche & Co., Teen Reach and Interact of Wake.
Ms. Viera's contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including Super Lawyers Rising Star since 2018, Legal Elite by Business North Carolina since 2021 and Best Lawyers Ones to Watch since 2022.
