During the early stages of her career, she experienced nearly two decades of excellence with the Arizona Department of Education, where she served as an operations specialist, Title I education program specialist, and director of Indian Education.

Following her graduation from Cholla High School, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English language and literature from Arizona State University, graduating summa cum laude. Her dedication to staying abreast of ongoing industry changes is evident in her affiliations with several organizations, including the Arizona Indian Education Association and the National Indian Education Association.
Alongside her professional endeavors, Ms. Groenig has contributed to the advisory committee of the Heard Museum, which showcases traditional and contemporary American Indian art. Likewise, she is an avid table tennis player, having won a bronze medal through the United States Olympic Festival and state championships in Arizona and Oregon.
