His career journey began as a programmer at Worldspan from 1995 to 1997, followed by an overlapping role at Sabre Holdings Corporation from 1996 to 2001. He then joined Electronic Data Systems, a Hewlett-Packard Company, where he served for eight years and held multiple positions, including senior programmer, security technical support lead, and delivery security officer.
In 2009, Mr. Chance transitioned to NIC as a security analyst before moving to Robert Half Inc. in 2010 for a similar role. He then became a senior security consultant at Corporate Risk Solutions for the next four years, followed by a brief tenure as a senior consultant at BRIDGE Energy Group. From 2015 to 2018, he served as a critical infrastructure protection compliance auditor at SERC Reliability Corporation.
Continuing to advance in his career, Mr. Chance's expertise further expanded during his time as lead critical infrastructure protection compliance analyst at Advantage Tech from 2018 to 2019 and as a critical infrastructure protection consultant and protection and control engineer at Staffor Consulting LLC from 2019 to 2022. Mr. Chance is currently a Critical Infrastructure Specialist at Pedernales Electric Cooperative, Inc., which is the largest electric cooperative in the nation.
Mr. Chance's academic background includes a Master of Science in telecom management from Oklahoma State University, earned in 2004, and a bachelor's degree in general computer studies from The University of Kansas, completed in 1983. Mr. Chance was married for 36 years before the passing of his spouse in 2016. In his personal life, he enjoys traveling, riding motorcycles and being involved in several civic-minded organizations, such as Biking for Babies. Looking ahead, when he finishes his work in Austin, he aims to relocate to Florida, where he plans to enjoy the next chapter of his life.
