Over the next few years, he honed his medical and dental expertise, and became a Certified Healthcare Business Consultant.
In 2005, Mr. Imel joined Professional Practice Consultants, Inc. in Burr Ridge, Illinois. He further specialized in the dental and other miscellaneous small business advisory there, becoming Partner in 2012. This role allowed him to deepen his experience and understanding of the unique financial needs within the healthcare industry, laying the foundation for his future endeavors.
After relocating to Austin, Texas, in 2019 to join his wife, Mr. Imel became a Senior Tax Manager at Robnett CPAs, where he gained exposure to various industries beyond health care, broadening his professional scope and enhancing his versatility as a tax advisor.
In January of 2022, Mr. Imel realized a long-held aspiration by acquiring B&H Tax Service in San Antonio, Texas. This acquisition marked the beginning of his journey as an independent tax consultant under the umbrella of Dakine Consulting, Inc., a firm he initially incorporated in Illinois in 2006. Mr. Imel expanded his practice the following year by acquiring Akamai Tax Service in Honolulu, Hawaii, in January 2023.
Mr. Imel's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with minors in Finance, Computer Information Science, and Bible from Clearwater Christian College (Florida) in 1999. His affinity for numbers and finance guided him toward an accounting career after he decided against pursuing law.
