Patricia Ann Shirk Honored for Excellence in Accounting

An early interest in numbers prompted Patricia Ann Shirk to pursue a career in finance. She has since devoted more than a quarter of a century to providing a range of accounting services, including payroll, accounts receivable and payable, general ledger and inventory. Ms. Shirk, a conscientious accountant, receives the most gratification from the positive feedback and recognition she receives from her clients. Since started BNT Associates, LLC in 1989, small businesses have turned to Patricia Shirk to help them get organized. Prior to establishing BNT Associates, Prior to joining BNT Associates, LLC, Ms. Shirk worked in the accounting departments of a local department store; a clothing manufacturer and a nonprofit organization. She was also business manager of a podiatry office and controller for a temp agency.

Ms. Shirk is a valuable resource in her industry, not least because she works very hard to produce outstanding results; she also keeps up with the current issues in an industry known for its constant changes. "If you don't keep up with the fluctuations in the law," she says, "you will be lost." Ms. Shirk is presently pursuing her Enrolled Agent Status designation from the National Association of Tax Professionals. By passing the enrolled agent exam, she hopes to obtain the credentials to be able to represent any customer in front of the Internal Revenue Service.

Ms. Shirk is a member of the Berks County Chamber of Commerce, the Lexington County Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Tax Professionals. She was listed in Great Women of the 21st Century and the 2005-2006 edition of Who's Who Among Women.
