ACME Bowl to Host 2009 Lebowski Fest, in Seattle on July 21; Jeff "the Dude" Dowd Scheduled to Appear at Celebration of all Things Related to "The Big Lebowski"

    SEATTLE, WA, July 01, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Lebowski Fest Speed of Sound 2009 Tour, a celebration of all things related to the 1998 Coen brothers cult comedy, "The Big Lebowski," will make its annual Seattle stop at ACME Bowl, on Tuesday, July 21, at 7 p.m. ACME Bowling Billiards and Events is located across from Southcenter at 100 Andover Park West.

Tickets are now on sale for the Lebowski Fest's Seattle Bowling Party at ACME, which is second stop on a 15 city tour. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 day of show and are available at www.LebowskiFest.com. The Lebowski Fest is open to those 21 years and older. Last year's Seattle event sold out.

"As the Stranger said, 'we take comfort knowing that the Dude is out there' and his Festival is coming to ACME," said Gary Larson, ACME Bowl General Manager. "We expect 1,000 people, all dressed in costume, to join in this stupefying celebration of the Dude."

White Russians and Oat Sodas? You bet. That's just part of the fun of a Lebowski Fest. You'll see fans dressed as The Dude, Walter, Donny, Maude, Jackie Treehorn, Karl Hungus, Brandt, Nihilists, Smokey, Jesus and Bunny and other movie characters - all competing for the best costume award.

Jeff "The Dude" Dowd, the inspiration for The Dude, is scheduled to appear at ACME during the Lebowski Fest.

Finally, the Lebowski Fest will feature trivia and other contests; and, of course, bowling. Bowling is a general admission and is not guaranteed. Bowling shoes are not required with any non-dark soled shoe.

Fest festivities kick off on Monday, July 20, with a screening of the Big Lebowski at the Fremont Outdoor Cinema, 3501 Phinney Ave. North. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30. Tickets are available at www.LewbowskiFest.com.

"Over the Line" - The Lebowski Fest

The Lebowski Fest is an annual festival begun in 2002 in Louisville, Kentucky celebrating Joel and Ethan Coen's 1998 cult film whose fans' line memorization and creative attire rival those of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. While the Coen brothers continue to maintain a safe distance from the madness they created, the Fest has earned the blessing of the Dude himself, Jeff Bridges, who attended the fest in L.A. and even stuck around to sing a few songs.

The organizers of Lebowski Fest are Bill Green (also graphic designer), Scott Shuffitt, and Will Russell. They have also published the book, I'm a Lebowski, You're a Lebowski: Life, The Big Lebowski, and What Have You, described as "the companion book to The Big Lebowski, a punch-drunk tribute worthy of a bowling-loving stoner named "the Dude.""

The 2009 Speed Of Sound Tour will kick off with the 8th Annual Lebowski Fest in Louisville and then roll through Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas, Denver, Minneapolis, Chicago, Toronto, Boston, Philadelphia, New York, DC and Austin.
