SANTA BARBARA, CA, September 04, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Whether design, location, energy savings or customer service is their priority, new homebuyers report real satisfaction with their decision to purchase at Cherry Hill in Moorpark Highlands, a Moorpark master-planned community by Pardee Homes. Several explain why Cherry Hill earned first place.
"Fred and I looked at resale homes and other new-home communities, but nothing felt right for us until we visited Cherry Hill in Moorpark Highlands," said Guia Salas, who added that she and her husband were first-time homebuyers when they discovered the Cherry Hill neighborhood.
What made Shannon and Mark Dobbs choose Cherry Hill? "These homes and the master-planned community of Moorpark Highlands offered more of what we were looking for than anywhere else, so we were happy when our broker introduced us to Cherry Hill," said Shannon, an at-home mom who works part-time. "We looked at new and resale homes, and nothing else compared to the overall value here."
Design--In a gated area of Moorpark Highlands, Cherry Hill homes are priced from the $600,000s, and include three 2-story designs, distinguished by Tuscan, French and Early California styling. Plans range from approximately 2,607 to 3,479 square feet, with up to five bedrooms and four baths.
One plan's first floor features the master bedroom suite, a secondary bedroom and a den/optional bedroom, with an additional bedroom suite or loft secluded above. The other two plans have a first-floor bedroom and adjacent bath that might be used for an older relative or as private guest quarters. Design versatility also includes a den, loft or workshop per plan.
Mark and Shannon chose Plan Two, a spacious home for a growing family that includes two young children. "Having the large loft adjacent to two bedrooms provides a nice children's wing with a perfect playroom/media room," said Shannon. "This home is also great for entertaining. When I'm busy in the kitchen, I can still visit with our guests in the family room."
Fred and Guia selected Residence Three, a national award-winner for outstanding architectural design. "There's such a nice open feeling to this home with its high ceilings and all the natural light," said Guia. "The quality and craftsmanship are excellent, and we appreciate all the built-in energy efficiency. Pardee Homes also offered a broad range of options for individualizing our home."
Coldwell Banker Broker Bob Pearson's personal choice was a Plan Two, and he applauded the opportunity to add French doors to the rear yard off the first-floor bedroom. "I love to entertain, and this provides an outstanding indoor/outdoor flow with the open kitchen and great room," he explained. "Having a large lot was an important part of my choice, too, and I'm looking forward to putting in a pool, barbecue and fireplace."
Location--With an elevated retreat setting and convenience to freeways and shopping, dining and entertainment, Moorpark Highlands encompasses some 400 acres. It offers private neighborhood recreational centers and multi-purpose trails with links to surrounding open space and trails. The recently completed Mammoth Highlands Park adds new choices, with approximately 7.5 acres that hold a multi-use field, picnic pavilion, a lighted tennis court, a basketball court and equipped play areas.
"Cherry Hill has a nice community feel and a quiet country setting, yet it's a quick trip to pick up milk or go to the dry cleaners," said Mark, an acquisitions specialist in commercial real estate. "We appreciate the parks in Moorpark, having the beach nearby and being able to visit local farms to buy fresh fruits and vegetables. This is an ideal family-oriented location."
Previously living in Los Angeles, Guia Salas wanted a better environment in which to raise her children as well as a location closer to her husband's work in Thousand Oaks. "We love coming home to this quiet community up in the hills, so different from where we used to live," she said. "The skies are much clearer, and the view is lovely. We also like the extra privacy of a gated entry."
Added Fred Salas, a microbiologist with a pharmaceutical company, "It's wonderful to drive around Cherry Hill and the Moorpark Highlands community, with the well-kept streets and friendly neighbors. Now our children can play in a pleasant neighborhood setting and attend schools in a highly regarded district."
With his clientele primarily in the Westlake Village area, Pearson hadn't anticipated buying in Moorpark, but chose his home here because he felt that Pardee Homes offered the best value. Now he sees that the location is advantageous. "I'm still only 15 minutes from work, and I feel that I got a lot more home and quality for the price," he said.
Guia Salas can't imagine a better place for her family. "Pardee Homes picked this location very well," she said. "Families can live amid these peaceful surroundings, but the big city isn't far away."
Energy Savings Standards--All homes at Moorpark Highlands are built to rigorous energy efficiency criteria, thanks to Pardee Homes' LivingSmart and EnergySmart standards. "Our homes are tighter, more energy efficient and more comfortable than homes built to conventional standards," said Joyce Mason, vice president of marketing. "For most people, this also translates to a lower utility bill!"
Pardee Homes' commitment to energy efficiency impressed Pearson, in part because the company's measures and systems exceed local codes and are independently inspected and certified. "Pardee Homes offers many quality pluses, and this is one more great example," said Pearson.
Customer Service--"Pardee Homes is one of the best builders I've ever bought from, and their customer service and overall responsiveness is exceptional," said Pearson, who applies his 22+ years in real estate sales to quickly recognizing quality construction, good value and exemplary customer service.
"When you contact Pardee with a question or concern about your home, the response is always along the lines of 'How can I make it right?' and it's always fast," said Pearson. "There's so much involved in buying a home, so when these are the words you can count on hearing, the whole process is a pleasure."
Fred and Guia Salas agree wholeheartedly. "From sales to customer service, it was a great experience buying a home from Pardee Homes," said Fred. "They really went above and beyond to help us make our new-home dream come true at Cherry Hill. We've raved about Pardee and all their people to everybody we know."
