Contemporary Hudson Valley Artists Bring the Beauty, Mystery and Power of Nature into the Home at Hammertown Rhinebeck Gallery

    RHINEBECK, NY, October 14, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Today eco-friendly and sustainability are household words whether you live in the country, the city or somewhere in between. Many of us are concerned about our environment and looking for new ways to preserve its natural beauty and healing energy. Artists have focused on the environment since the beginning of time and continue to inspire us with their visions of life in balance and harmony with nature.

Each of the artists in Beauty. Mystery. Nature Transformed at the Hammertown Rhinebeck Gallery seek to preserve, translate and expand our worldview of our natural landscape and environment while bringing the restorative energy of nature inside the walls of our home environment no matter where we live.

Collaborating with the curators at Elisa Tucci Contemporary Art, Hammertown Rhinebeck presents the beauty, mystery and transformational energy of nature in a new Art Exhibit at the store's home design gallery. Opening Columbus Day Weekend on Saturday, October 10th, the show runs through November 10th, 2009 at the gallery on Montgomery Row in the center of Rhinebeck. There will also be a Hammertown After Hours Reception with Pine Plains sculptor Jon DePreter on Saturday, October 24th, between 4pm and 8pm.

The exhibit features the work of both emerging and established artists currently in major private, corporate and museum collections, including:
-- Amy Cheng's magical and cross-cultural world view
-- Jon DePreter's native and tribal-inspired contemporary sculptures created from reclaimed local wood
-- Elaine Galen's surreal and mysterious landscapes of Boscobel, the Northeastern countryside, Italy and France.
-- Sharon Gordon's dramatic and hypnotic studies of the horizon
-- Rosalind Schneider's video paintings and digital fusion land and waterscapes of the Hudson Valley

According to Hammertown Manager, Rhonda Cayes, "Many of our clients are looking to bring the balance, serenity and comfort of nature into their home. We continue to expand our offerings of eco-friendly furniture and home design products. This exhibit is designed to inspire --- and support our commitment to help our customers "love where you live" while supporting the local community of artists and creative people."

Hammertown will also support the local community by donating 5% of art sales commissions to the Berkshire Taconic Foundation in support of arts education and creative programs that heal underserved children through the arts.
