HOUSTON, TX, October 15, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The first phase of the project involved the design and installation of Flexible Lifeline Systems' cable-based fall arrest systems. This innovative fall protection system is capable of long spans which, in this case, prevented the entry to the loading dock from being impeded. Significant structural modifications would have been required had this system not been suitable. As a result, significant savings were realized by OxyChem.
The second phase of the project called for FLS' proprietary FlexRail rigid lifeline system which provided coverage for three loading areas in a railshed. The use of the FlexRail in the light structure of the pre-engineered railshed minimized the requirement for reinforcement to withstand the loads imposed by the systems. Once again, this resulted in significant cost savings to OxyChem.
"This is another example of our ability to mitigate multiple fall hazards for our customers using our wide range of fall protection solutions." said Kevin Simich, Sr. Systems Specialist at Flexible Lifeline Systems. "We were pleased to be able to provide the most suitable and cost-effective, yet different, systems in both areas. Different structures and applications demand innovative fall arrest solutions and FLS met the challenge again. FLS Works!"
