See art from the Far East at China - Contemporary Revival

    MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, January 14, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- To escape all things Italian during a stay at Milan hotels, visitors could attend one event that brings a taste of the Far East to the region.

China - Contemporary Revival is being held at the city's Palazzo Reale and people have until February 7th 2010 to take a look.

The exhibition has paintings, sculptures, videos and installations on display which aim to analyse the past 15 years of creativity and artistry to come out of the Republic of China.

About 50 Eastern artists have their work at the show, What's On When reports, including Yue Minjun, a contemporary artist who was born in 1962 and is based in Beijing.

Although he is best known for oil paintings of himself, in which his face is always stretched into a wide smile, it is a series of sculptures called Contemporary Terracotta Warriors that will be on display at China - Contemporary Revival.

"I paint people laughing, whether it is a big laugh, a restrained laugh, a crazy-laugh, a near-death laugh or simply laughter about our society: laughter can be about anything," Mr Minjun said.

Other artists showing their work include Zeng Hao, Zhang Huan, Weng Fen and Shi Jinsong.
