WYNNEWOOD OK, February 02, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- An already struggling zoo gets one more hit of devastation by Mother Nature. The last week of January 2010 the G.W. Exotic Animal Park gets hit with one full day of a horrible ice storm, followed by two full days of snow, devastating the park. "Being closed to the public until the ice melts and clean up can begin is going to set the financial status of the park into even more of a hardship," says Park director Joe Schreibvogel.
The economy, cold wet weather made 2009 one of the worst years for donations and public attendants in the history of the G.W. Park and 2010 is not starting off very well either. The Director stated, that the park has had to close to the public due to fallen trees and limbs hanging over the walkways because they are so covered in ice. "It is going to take weeks to clean this mess up," Joe States. The park staff spent the day sending out over 3000 pleas to supporters by mail, email, face book and my space to help with the financial part of the clean up and to see if anyone was willing to volunteer to come help pick up the pieces. Food, electricity and animal care is not our worries right now as the Rural Electric Company has restored power to the park and with the meat and produce sponsors, none of the animals will go without. "Its just the ordinary bills we are behind on such as power, gas, phones etc.," says Joe. And now with no customers for weeks while we clean up the destruction it will put us farther behind.
The Director of the park stated, "We have set up an emergency fund so people can help get the park above ground." People who care and want to help can go to www.gwpark.org to see the pictures of the destruction and donate right on line through paypal or they can text a $10.00 donation to "GWPARK" to 85944 from their cell phone, it will be billed to their monthly phone bill.
