MIAMI BEACH, FL, February 04, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- When it comes to expressions of the heart, the love letter has proven time and again the most desired method of expression. Shakespeare, Keats, Napoleon, Victor Hugo, and even Beethoven, have all used love letters to express the everlasting devotion they felt for their loved one. And, in the upcoming romantic movie Dear John, the leading characters express their love for each other through a series of letters. But, when it comes to expressions of the heart, do people today still turn to the love letter? With Valentine's Day rapidly approaching, leading online dating websites Date.com (www.date.com), Matchmaker.com (www.matchmaker.com), and Amor.com (www.amor.com), polled its members to see where the love letter ranked when it comes to Valentine's Day gift giving.
Perhaps it's the continued recessed economy that influenced voters but, when it comes to Valentine's Day presents, the majority of men (50%) and women (75%) chose the sentimentality of a love letter over extravagant gifts like jewelry, tech gadgets, tickets for vacation getaways and expensive perfume. 20% of men, meanwhile, also chose a coupon for sexual favors over any tangible gift, while women preferred jewelry (13%) and roses (6%) over coupons for sexual favors (1%).
In a new survey of thousands of male online daters, conducted during the month of January, we asked: When it comes to gifts of the heart, which present would you love to receive on Valentine's Day?
