ROME, ITALY, February 10, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- If sporty types feel like giving their legs a stretch and setting themselves a challenge, then they could book Rome hotels and participate in one event taking place in the city.
The Rome Marathon will be held on March 21st 2010 and encourages anyone and everyone to give the race a go.
It passes many of the Italian capital's most famous landmarks such as St Peter's Basilica, the main synagogue and the city's primary mosque.
The action kicks off nice and early at 09:00 local time and athletes have a maximum of seven and a half hours to complete the route.
Participants who are up to the task may be pleased to know that their efforts will not go unrewarded, as those who do cross the finish line are presented with a medal, while diplomas and rankings are available from the event's official website after the race.
Competitors have until March 28th to register and the fee is EUR65 (GBP56).
Last year, Benjamin Kiptoo Koulum set a new record by completing the race in two hours, seven minutes and 17 seconds.
The event's organisers also run RomaFun - La Stracittadina, which is a less challenging four-kilometre walk. This non-competitive version of the main event encourages both young and old to traverse the streets and attempt to complete the course.
Jessica Reading, head of marketing for LateRooms, commented: "Demand for the Rome Marathon is always significant and we recommend that anyone considering attending should book their hotel Roma as early as possible."
