The parade leaves the Basilica del Cristo de Medinaceli, which was consecrated in 1930, in the Plaza de Jesus at around 19:00 local time and winds its way through the city's streets.

Several other religious establishments also organise their own processions to mark Good Friday.

While the Procesion del Silencio begins at the Church of Santisino Cristo de la Fe, Santo Entierro departs from the Parish Church of Santa Cruz and carries an image of Lignum Crucis, the tourism website added.
