FORT WORTH, TX, March 01, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The death toll from the January 12 earthquake in Haiti has reached 230,000 and many survivors are still in urgent need of food and clothing.
Fort Worth State Farm Insurance Agent Linda Allen has joined with local charity Ends of the Earth Ministries to collect food and clothing for the people of Haiti. Those who want to donate should bring dry food and/or clothing (new or gently used) to Allen's agency at 8101 Boat Club Road, Suite 240 in Saginaw starting March 1. Please drop off clothes Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, or Saturdays from 9:00 am to noon. The drive will last through March 31.
"Our food and clothing drive is part of a series of initiatives that we will be doing throughout 2010 to give back to the community and help those in need," Allen said. "Texans are generous, and I believe a lot of people are looking for a way to be a part of Haiti relief efforts."
Allen, whose focus on serving others led her to write the book "Out with Customer Service & In with People Service," chose Fort Worth-based Ends of the Earth Ministries, a local charity with 10 years of experience in providing disaster relief, to help with the effort. She says she hopes the community will join her and her team's efforts to make an impact on those in such desperate need.
"We're glad to have help from Linda Allen in collecting supplies for people affected by the disaster in Haiti," said Larry Buck, founder of Ends of the Earth Ministries and a veteran of disaster relief efforts in China, Mongolia, the Philippines and New Orleans. "We will make certain that everything donated gets to the people who it can help the most."
"Because travel expenses are paid by participants or out of a separate budget, we can guarantee that 100 percent of what is donated will be used to benefit Haitians," Buck said.
Linda is optimistic that with the help of her team, her clients, and the generous residents and businesses in Ft. Worth and Saginaw TX, working with Ends of Earth Ministries, an effective and measurable difference can be made for those in Haiti who so desperately need this help.
