    RIO DE JANEIRO, March 05, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In the midst of building celebrations for March 8, International Women's Day, a major earthquake devastated Chile early Saturday morning, collapsing bridges, toppling buildings, crushing cars and razing entire neighborhoods and towns. At press time 700 are confirmed dead with the toll expected to rise as recovery efforts continue.

The 8.8 temblor triggered a tsunami that took hundreds of lives near its point of origin, swallowing numerous small villages that line Chile's coast, and threatened the entire Pacific Basin.
