WASHINGTON, DC, April 17, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Command Medical, an American medical device manufacturer operating in Nicaragua since 2005, recently inaugurated its new facility in the capital city of Managua, which required an investment of approximately US$3 million. The company currently generates 45 jobs and expects to increase that number to 180 by the end of 2011.
The company operates as a contract manufacturer for nine of the 15 largest medical device companies in the world, fabricating fully branded, custom-made products and shipping them to their warehouses for distribution to hospitals, clinics, and doctors' offices all over the world.
According to David Slick, President of Command Medical, the goal of this expansion is to boost production, increase jobs and provide long-term growth opportunities for the staff. "I believe our workers here are the most productive in all of Central America. They are educated and motivated and have a tremendous capacity for learning new operations as we grow," said Slick during the inauguration act.
Alvaro Baltodano, Nicaragua's Presidential Delegate for Investments stated that: "This type of investment is important because it highlights the country as an attractive investment destination for new and innovative industries such as medical devices, therefore developing the capacity and know-how of the Nicaraguan labor force."
In April 2010, another prestigious medical device company announced its intention to invest in Nicaragua, highlighting that the country continues to draw the attention of medical device companies abroad who are looking to offshore operations in destinations that will allow them to increase their productivity and lower operational costs.
Some of the most important benefits Nicaragua offers companies of the medical device industry include generous tax incentives, the most competitive cost structure in the region, an excellent export platform and a highly-qualified and productive labor force, ideal for labor-intensive production processes.
Command Medical was founded in 1987 in Ormond Beach, Florida. In 2005, the company decided to expand its operations offshore and chose Nicaragua as the ideal investment destination to establish a hand-made, high-volume disposable medical device production facility. The company's quality service is certified under ISO 13485 and several of the clean rooms are certified under ISO 14644.
