Imaginary Realism Painter Robert Bissell to Make May Appearance at Dzian Gallery in Worcester, MA

    WORCESTER, MA, May 20, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Today, DZian Gallery announced a two-day meet and greet event with Imaginary Realism painter Robert Bissell, Friday, May 21 (4-9pm) and Saturday, May 22, 2010 (12-4pm).

This is the English-born painter's first event on the east coast, having lived, painted and shown on the west coast for twenty-five years. DZian is holding the event in concert with the Worcester Animal Rescue League, to which the proceeds of an auctioned Bissell print will be donated. Imaginary Realist Robert Bissell creates a completely different atmosphere from our daily experience, inviting us to learn more about ourselves. In his paintings the world of animals is a mirror for human existence, self-definition and reflection. These are not mere children's tales - quite the contrary. Bissell's work causes us to reflect on the environment, life, death, renewal and the stages of transition - departing from the safety of family, and making our way in the world.

Bissell grew up in Somerset, England, and retains a love of rural life, Celtic legends and panoramic landscapes. His keen interest in visuals began at an early age while documenting life around him through photographs. After studying graphic design and obtaining a Masters Degree from The Royal College of Art in London, Robert moved to San Francisco and began a successful fifteen-year career in retail advertising. The Worcester Animal Rescue League was founded in 1912 by a group of women determined to save overworked and abused farm horses. Almost a full century later, their love for animals and the struggle to rescue pets from abuse, neglect, and inhumane treatment continues.
