OAKLAND, CA, June 05, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Today imaginary realist painter Robert Bissell and publisher Dreamworld Art announced the release of Bissell's latest image, The Golden Bear. The new limited edition giclee prints on canvas are available in two sizes and an enhanced edition.
This image is a prequel to Bissell's very popular and critically acclaimed 2007 The Embrace painting. "This is how the The Embrace painting was originally conceived," said Bissell. "The setting is from a painting by Asher B Durand, one of the foremost Hudson River Romantics, and a master at landscape. My interpretation is that the wanderer in the forest is recreated in gold after encountering the butterflies near the creek. I blended some gold paint into the bear, so that she might glisten when viewed at a certain angle."
Bissell creates a completely different atmosphere from our daily experience, inviting us to learn more about ourselves. In his paintings the world of animals is a mirror for human existence, self-definition and reflection. These are not mere children's tales - quite the contrary. Bissell's work causes us to reflect on the environment, life, death, renewal and the stages of transition - departing from the safety of family, and making our way in the world.
The Golden Bear is available in the following editions/sizes:
