WHITE PLAINS, NY, July 27, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Niko's Greek Taverna is now celebrating its 5-year anniversary, as of June 6th, 2010. The Kringas family has been serving fine authentic Greek food from Central Avenue in White Plains to happy guests coming from near and far: Scarsdale, White Plains, Tarrytown, Dobbs Ferry, even Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens and people visiting from neighboring states all love this local gem.
One of Niko's Greek Taverna's loyal clients was quoted as saying, "Niko's serves the best food in Westchester, maybe even the world!" While most restaurants are struggling is these tough economic times, Niko's Greek Taverna of White Plains has been busier than ever. It seems that people just love this restaurant and continue to visit week in, week out, no matter what is going on elsewhere.
It is rare to find a family that can work together every day for so long in what is usually perceived as a high stress environment. The Kringas family seems to complement one another very well. Each family member has different skills and abilities that they bring to the table to keep Niko's Greek Taverna growing and attracting more and more loyal, regular customers year in and year out.
Peter Kringas, the dad, has a lifetime of experience in the food industry. He came to the US from Greece at 16 years old and immediately began working for his uncle in Sleepy Hollow, NY. Peter eventually bought that business from his uncle and ran a successful bar restaurant for almost 30 years until the neighboring General Motors plant shut down.
Voula Kringas, aka "Momma", prepares all the food and oversees the kitchen. Voula shows a genuine love for all people and when patrons walk through the doors at the restaurant, she takes them in as family.
"I cannot say enough about my mother's cooking. She does not have any formal training or any fancy degree but she can cook with the best of em'," Niko says. "Growing up we would have childhood friends that would not leave our house....seriously."
Liza Minnelli even went to visit on one occasion and Niko says, "Her and my mom really hit it off. Liza told my mother that the stuffed grape leaves that we offer on our Specials board were the best she's ever had!"
George Kringas is the artist in the family. He designed all the marketing materials that Niko's uses, including the logo, website, and menus. Starting out by doing light freelance work at the age of 13 years old, George has grown to become a graphic design expert.
Nick Kringas is the entrepreneur of the family. He graduated from Syracuse University with two majors, one in Entrepreneurship and the other in Finance. He is married with two kids and lives in West Harrison, NY.
In addition to the wonderful Greek food, Niko's also offers outdoor dining and an extensive selection of Greek wines by the glass or bottle. When the weather is nice be sure to dine al fresco on the large front patio usually seen full to capacity while driving by on Central Avenue.
"Whether you are looking for takeout or a restaurant to dine in; if you are hungry and in the mood for Italian food or pizza, Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Japanese sushi, Korean BBQ, maybe you have never even thought of eating Greek food. Look us up at www.nikostaverna.com or get to know us on a more personal level by visiting our blog at www.nikostaverna.com/yasoublog."
Niko closes by saying, "All I ask is that you give us one shot to prove that we are the best Greek restaurant that you will ever visit. My mother does all the cooking. How can you go wrong?"
