The play was penned by Enrique Jardiel Poncela, who the organisers of the show describe as a "pioneer in the genre of comedy theatre", with this being one of his funniest productions.

Among the themes dealt with in the production are the emancipation of women and the issue of womanising.

It will be performed in the Basque city from September 8th to 12th 2010, with the show starting at 20:00 local time every evening except for the final one, when it begins at 19:00.

This cracking production was first done in 1934, with this year's cast featuring a host of acting talent including Chete Lera, Zorion Egileor and Soledad Mallol.

"Set in 1880, this verse drama is an irresistible piece of humour featuring several seemingly 19th century conflicts, which are, however, deeply rooted in Spanish culture," explained the venue.

Tickets are available online and from the box office starting from EUR6.40 (GBP5.30).

There are plenty more theatrical shows taking place at the art space this summer, with more musically-minded people perhaps enjoying a Spanish version of Chicago, which is running from August 12th until September 5th.
