Antique highlights are two chest-on-chests with great patina; an 18th C. Louis XV server; 19th C. Desks; several 19th C. Desks included a signed Charles-Guillaume Diehl Second Empire; an American Federal Sofa and Rare Loveseat; period Chippendale Chairs; a Queen Anne Chinoiserie Decorated Tilt Top Table; sets of Mahogany and Oak Curved-Glass Lion-Headed China Cabinets; and a Victorian Bamboo Hanging Vitrine.
Micentury Modern Design includes a Robsjohn Gibbings bedroom set; pairs of John Widdicomb club chairs and endtables; a Milo Baughman sofa, a pair of John Stuart bachelors chests, and a Harvey Probber-style desk as well as pieces by Herman Miller and Mies van der Rohe.
Estate Jewelry and Sterling Silver includes Mikimoto pearls, an Art Deco gold bracelet with star sapphires; a Tiffany teapot, a large handled Sterling Urn as Trophy, a mixed lot of Tiffany and Moss pieces, two sets of Gorham flatware, and pieces still being catalogued as this goes to press.
Clarke's finest collection of estate carpets in many years is also being offering in this sale. Among ten examples are a palace-sized antique Kashan previously valued at $15,000-25,000; antique Kermins, Heriz and Mahals, an Arts and Crafts carpet, and semi-antique Chinese carpets. All carpets are in good condition and recently cleaned.
Decorative Arts highlights are a 19th C. handpainted and signed KPM porcelain plaque after Raphael's Sistine Madonna; a pair of 19th C. old Crown Derby plaques signed James Rouse; a signed Sevres plaque; Midcentury Art Glass, a large Majolica Blackamoor, R. Lalique glass, and Meissen and Sevres clocks.
Garden Ironwork features eight 19th Century American Lawn Jockies by the McKittrick foundry of Union Beach NJ and antique, possibly 18th Century French Urns with Putti.
And Art In addition, Clarke will be offering three 19th C. Marble Sculptures, two signed, Bronzes, and paintings by listed artists such as Valfred Thelin, Henry Andrews, and Williamsburg's Terrance Lindall; original childrens' book illustrations, a collection of decorative Indian paintings on silk, unsigned Old Masters, a watercolor nude signed Rodin and a older full-sized oil on linen after Leon Bonnat's 19th C masterpiece "Roman Girl at a Fountain".
