BRUSSELS, BELGIUM, October 20, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Siemens has achieved the Corporate Learning Improvement Process accreditation (CLIP) from the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). The accreditation recognizes the high standards and quality learning programs offered and dispensed by the company's in-house learning and leadership development providers.
"The peer review team was impressed by the originality of the Siemens approach to the task of combining highly focused leadership development with the broad-based coordination of learning and development provision across the company. Siemens is exemplary in its effort to manage a globally integrated learning function fully aligned with the strategic priorities of the company at large," said Gordon Shenton, Associate Director of Quality Services at EFMD.
"At Siemens, our Learning activities are very closely aligned to the strategies and requirements of our businesses. Receiving this renowned accreditation is an important confirmation for our way to organize learning," said Marion Horstmann, Chief Learning Officer at Siemens.
The global Siemens learning organization consists of two equally important pillars: The "Siemens Leadership Excellence" (SLE) program and the Siemens Corporate University "Global Learning Campus" (LC).
Siemens Leadership Excellence offers a comprehensive portfolio of leadership and organizational development offerings for Siemens leaders. Since its foundation in 2005, SLE has accompanied more than 3.500 global Siemens leaders in their ongoing professional development.
Global Learning Campus is the Siemens in-house partner for all forms of business-related learning. Measures provided are deduced from Siemens business requirements and address individual employees as well as teams and organizational units. The service range comprises seminars, e-learning and customized workshops, as well as projects and rollouts for organizational development. Together with an internal delivery network, LC is providing training for over 70,000 employees annually.
Dr. Richard Straub, EFMD Director of Development & CLIP believes the whole CLIP experience delivers a great deal of added value to an organization, "Gaining CLIP accreditation establishes the credibility and internal recognition of the corporate university and gives a corporate university something tangible it can show to its board."
The CLIP initiative draws extensively on EFMD's successful EQUIS accreditation scheme for business schools and universities. Internal self assessment against a set of rigorous standards drawn up by leading members of the corporate learning community is combined with external review by experienced peers. The assessment process covers all the essential dimensions of the corporate university's deployment within the company: the alignment of its mission and operational objectives with corporate strategy, the effectiveness of its governance and internal management systems, its ability to address key issues of concern to the business units, the program design process, the overall coherence of the program portfolio, the quality of delivery and the impact of the corporate university's activities upon individual and organizational learning.
