A Total Write-Off, a new 13-part television series produced by Panacea Entertainment in Edmonton, Alberta, begins filming the second week of October and Cheryl Kaye Tardif, author of Whale Song (a 2007 Kunati Books release), Divine Intervention and The River will be one of the participants.

/24-7PressRelease/ - EDMONTON, CANADA, October 7, 2006 - Edmonton mystery author Cheryl Kaye Tardif was selected to participate in A Total Write-Off, a new television series produced by Panacea Entertainment for Access--The Education Station, Canadian Learning Television and Book Television.

Cheryl Kaye Tardif is the author of Whale Song (a 2007 Kunati Books release), Divine Intervention and The River. Whale Song is due out in April 2007, and Kunati Books has already received advanced library orders, foreign rights interest and two Hollywood film companies are considering Whale Song.

Tardif is well known in the Edmonton writing community as an author who promotes herself and other authors to the max. She is the creator of Authors' Row, a group of authors featured at the Edmonton Woman's Show on October 14th and 15th, 2006. She is also the founder of AlbertaAuthors.com, which promotes Alberta authors and BookAdz.com, which promotes Canadian and American authors. In 2004, Tardif was nominated for the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Arts Award. She has appeared on many local Alberta TV stations and been a guest on radio stations in Canada and the US. She has also been featured in many newspapers across Canada.

When Cheryl Kaye Tardif discovered she had been selected for A Total Write-Off, her first words were: "What the heck have I gotten myself into?" After entering numerous contests and having little luck, she had actually forgotten about this one until they contacted her. She couldn't believe her luck had changed. She is thrilled to be part of an exciting new series.

A Total Write-Off is a "fast-paced and fun television series" created and hosted by famed comedian Barbara North, who recently created and starred in her CBC TV comedy special Army Brats. She has appeared on Just For Laughs, CBC, W Network, Canadian Learning Television and more.

In this exciting and hilarious competition, two teams of two writers will compete to create short stories based on suggestions from a live audience. Authors will also be interviewed to find how they are inspired and to learn about their current works and upcoming releases. The competition will feature a ticking clock, clich alarms and instant reviews of the works-in-progress by a literary critic. Later, the stories will be read aloud by the writers and acted out by comical mime dancers.

"It's a hip Whose Line Is It Anyway? meets Just for Laughs for both wordsmiths and fans of the written word," states Panacea Entertainment. "With Barbara interacting with the audience and the writers in their "pit," these impromptu literary masterpieces unfold on display screens before our eyes, based on plot parameters tossed out with wild abandon by audience members."

A Total Write-Off begins filming the second week of October. Cheryl Kaye Tardif's episode will be filmed October 11th at 6:00 pm at the Catalyst Theatre in Edmonton, Alberta. The series will air in 2007. Tickets to become part of the live audience are available through Panacea Entertainment.
