PALMDALE, CA, January 21, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The initial need of tarps came from the earthquake in Haiti. The second hit was tropical storm Thomas, calling for the need for even more poly tarps. In the midst of rebuilding the country, the storm caused more damage to the buildings that are in the process of being repaired. The tarps are also needed to continue the temporary emergency shelter for communities that have not been able to recuperate from the earthquake. The many uses they provide are offering a service that the country is unable to do without at the moment.
Many people are still living in tents made from these. With each disaster, more people are needing to use these for shelter keeping the demand high for them. They are finding the shortage of these to be debilitating to the country and many people are being homeless without any shelter at all.
The poly tarps are also in demand for use on structures that are in the stages of being rebuilt. As the tropical storm has passed through Haiti, these have kept the buildings from sustaining further damage. The lack of cover will cause excessive delays and keep people displaced for longer periods of time due to having to repair new damage before the repairs can continue.
There is currently no government funding to provide these to the people of Haiti, and they are in desperate need of more. Emergency aid is asking for donations of canvas tarps to keep the process of rebuilding running smoothly and to be able to provide the much needed temporary housing. Currently, they are having to rely on donation of money and supplies to meet the demand.
The leading U.S. tarp supplier Tarps Plus has been supplying Haiti ever since the earthquake hit. A spokesperson for the tarps company stated, "We have been supplying tarps to Haiti since the beginning of this thing and we still see a massive need for poly and canvas tarps for shelter."
These poly tarps are in need for being able to fight the damage that the tropical storms bring. The expectation is that demand for these will remain high through at least the end of 2011 until the country can resolve the issues from these disasters.
