SAN DIEGO, CA, January 21, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The start of a new year means a fresh start, a new beginning or the perfect time to finally put dreams into action. For many homeowners, 2011 will be the year of their next design project or home remodel. To help homeowners tap into the creative process, Jackson Design & Remodeling (JDR) reveals the top five design trends to watch for 2011.
Colors: According to Pantone, the global authority on color and the provider of professional color standards for design professionals, the energetic hue Honeysuckle is the Color of the Year for 2011. Honeysuckle is a dynamic blend of red and pink, inspiring confidence and courage. For homeowners looking to narrow their selections, JDR recommends checking out the colors of your sofa, rug, floors and cabinetry. The colors you've chosen to furnish your home are a good indicator of the palettes you like.
If you want to be trendy, just add a few accents of honeysuckle accessories.
"Many homeowners don't know where to begin when choosing colors, but we've found that even the smallest touches like a piece of art or favorite rug can offer inspiration," said JDR Design Team Leader, Tatiana Machado-Rosas, "For example, our team pulled colors from a favorite piece of art in a couple's home, which set the foundation and tone for our entire project. This is an easy tip that can lead to an amazing transformation while perfectly complimenting the homeowner's overall style."
Recently, Jackson Design & Remodeling launched its new painting division, offering clients one-on-one personal color consultations with professional interior design team. In addition to finding the right color palette, the JDR design team recommends the following 'trends to watch' for 2011:
Overall Design Style: Transitional and contemporary styles are in, with a focus on clean lines, minimalistic design accessories, and big accents, along with a style that is simplified, cozy and functional. Spanish style and Santa Barbara style remain popular choices.
Countertops: What's in? Glass, wood, polished stone, quartz, granite, green materials (Vetrazzo quartz and recycled paper countertops), including a mixture of honed and polished finishes. Leather finish on natural stone also creates a nice touch.
Backsplashes for the Kitchen or Bath: Mosaic and glass tiles, porcelain, natural stone mosaic and 3form acrylic offer a great contrast.
Technology: Gone are the days of cumbersome wires taking up your design space. Check out the latest trends in home automation, like built-in iPod docking stations, smart systems, media, window coverings, and steam showers with aromatherapy and music.
Homeowners considering a major remodel or redesign project are encouraged to attend JDR's free remodeling and design seminars. Guests can meet the design team in person, including Todd Jackson and senior designers, while learning about the design process and viewing inspirational ideas at the 7,800 square foot design center.
