HOUSTON, TX, March 11, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Southern Petroleum Laboratories, Inc. ("SPL") has received three new patents on its newly developed allocation method.
SPL has long been a leader in offering technical services to the oil and gas industry, focusing primarily on petroleum analytical and field services. But the invention of new allocation methods and software has turned the tables to spotlight the allocation and oil & gas accounting services that are offered by SPL.
By utilizing an executive dashboard, clients can continually monitor the streams and data tracked on energy transfer as molecules experience phase changes. Identifying and accounting for all components in a production or natural gas stream ensures that the value of the injection stream is precise and accurate.
The new methods not only serve as an accurate allocation tool, but enable the user to determine which streams were enriched and which streams were diluted due to the commingling effects. Using this new tool will allow for the quantification of these effects to a dollar amount.
The methods are quickly being utilized for both production allocations and are being written into Production Handling Agreements as a way to determine commercial fees for host facilities. "The new methods are the most accurate way to ascertain the effects of commingling hydrocarbon streams available to industry today," said Mark Brown, President of SPL's Allocation and Oil & Gas Accounting division.
The newly released patents coincide with the current efforts being undertaken by API to document the best practices in production allocation methodologies. The new methods will also be utilized in the allocation of Green House Gasses (GHGs).
