• The first major 'non-mainstream' Festival to offer a fresh alternative to the New York Outsider Art Fair
• New York's first Festival to be led by and run for raw artists
/24-7PRESSRELEASE.COM/ - ROCHESTER, UK - NOVEMBER 27, 2006 - The Raw Arts Festival made its critically acclaimed debut in London in August 2004 and followed up bigger and better in May 2005. It was widely recognised as being "London's largest and best International exhibition of self-taught art mounted to date". In 2005, the creator and director of the Raw Arts Festivals started collaborating with the New York Arts Magazine to create "Spain's first non-mainstream art festival" in Valencia 2006.
The collaboration has continued and resulted in the first major alternative to the Outsider Art Fair: The Raw Arts Festival - New York 2007. This will take place at the prestigious Carrozzini Von Buhler Gallery in the fashionable Meatpacking District in January. The gallery has been featured in the films "Something about you", "Mostly Martha" and has been seen on Law & Order SVU. The building is the onscreen home of Samantha from Sex and the City. The gallery has attracted many world class clients such as Mercedes, Smart Car, Grey Goose Vodka, H&M, Essence magazine, and many others.
The Festival will bring together many of the world's best living international self taught, intuitive and visionary artists including Dover Abrams, Maggie Campbell, Mike Kelly, Franco Meloni, Piers Midwinter, Ben Reche, Julia Sisi, Josh Slavin, Lynne Sweeney, Elizabeth Turnbull and Lori Vynalek. The Festival thus provides anyone attending the show a unique opportunity to meet some extraordinary people and to make a sensible investment by buying some stunningly original art.
The Raw Arts Festivals have been conceived in order to discover; honour and cosset raw artists of all kinds, whilst giving them a platform to exhibit their work and an opportunity to meet others like themselves. During each festival, larger than life exuberant personalities fill the gallery, and the art works explode with colourful vision, deeply felt emotion and imagination. Each artist is unique in the way the urge to create bursts out, but they are united in their need to express intellectual, emotional and spiritual visions.
