PHUKET, THAILAND, August 12, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Danang is Vietnam's third largest city and is based on the South China Seas, between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Every year the city holds an annual Moon Festival, and this September the festival will take place from the 11th to the 12th September.
The Full Moon Festival is also known as the 'Mid-Autumn Festival' and the Vietnamese expression for the celebration is 'Tet Trung Thu.' Celebrations take the shape of lion dances through the streets, where children will be seen to be carrying traditional 5-pointed star shaped lanterns. Another traditional feature of the Vietnamese festival is the square cakes that are baked especially for the occasion. The Lion Dance is performed in order to promote luck and good fortune and the dancers usually ask the homeowner's permission to dance, and the grateful owner will reward the dancers with gifts or money. The dances originate from an old Vietnamese tale about a carp that wanted to become a dragon.
In order to see the celebration and enjoy the festival, it is advisable to book a hotel in Danang as soon as possible as many visitors attend this enchanting celebration.
Travel to Danang is possible either by rail or bus from most major Vietnamese cities. There is also an international airport based in Danang. And there are many flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Alternatively, it is possible to reach the city by boat.
