NEW YORK, NY, October 13, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nationally acclaimed photographer, Paul Mobley, recently announced work from his best-selling book "American Farmer" has been optioned for presentation as a feature-length documentary. Dubbed "American Farmer" by its producers, followed by a national PBS broadcast. The film goes deep into our nation's agricultural heartland to tell the personal stories of the indomitable men and women who literally sustain us all.
In conjunction with this announcement, Mobley launches a national photo contest entitled "Your America Farmer." Free to enter, the contest is an open forum for individuals from across the U.S. to share their stories and experiences with farming and nature. From Farmer's Markets and road-side stands, to home and rooftop gardens, participants are asked to capture the heart of America's rich agricultural heritage.
First, second and third awards will be given in two categories with prizes ranging from entry into Mobley's 2012 Sante Fe Workshop, signed portraits of Mobley's limited edition work, Hoodman photography products and signed copies of best-selling book, "American Farmer."
"The contest is a way for people across the country to share what America's natural farming, garden and harvest means to them," said Mobley. "For me the rich history in the faces of farmers across the country was an inspiration. We want others to be able to share their inspiration."
Reid Callanan of Sante Fe Workshops, Gregory Wakabayashi from Welcome Books, Andrew Barbusca of the National Farmer's Market Nutrition Association and Joe Murphy of the Iowa Farm Bureau will join Mobley for the juried portion of the contest. Jurors will choose first, second and third prize selections based on originality, beauty and capturing the heart of America's agriculture society and strength. People, places, farms, landscape-these photos should embody America's rich harvest. Capture the human spirit in each subject.
A second set of awards will be given in a People's Choice series. People's Choice entries will be voted on by viewers. One selection per viewer. Registration to Dark Room Gallery's online portal is required and will allow participants to rally your friends, share their entry and be chosen the best by the masses.
