/24-7PressRelease.com/ - Portland, OR - January 5, 2005 - Killer Mobile (www.killermobile.com), a mobile phone software development company released what is quickly becoming a controversial program targeted at young, tech savvy men - a program aptly titled "Save Jimmy". Save Jimmy is a program that can run on any MIDP 2.0 compliant mobile phone that allows the user to input specific information on their significant other's menstrual cycle and in turn receive daily alerts as well as view a calendar with information regarding which days are "Safe" to not use a condom. "We knew that there might be a little uproar over this program" stated Joshua Alner, CEO of Killer Mobile, going on to say "But when you really think about it, this is technology that has been around for years. Couples have used this technique for ages to avoid pregnancy, and we figured that now is a good time to offer this to the mainstream male.
Safe sex advocates fear that the program could have very negative side effects, claiming that it could decrease condom use and in turn lead to the spread sexually transmitted diseases, however Killer Mobile disagrees saying "Look, we're not telling people to stop using condoms. What we are doing, is offering a program to consenting adults that gives them the information they need to make an educated decision on whether or not using a condom is necessary from a pregnancy standpoint on a given day of the month".
Save Jimmy, featuring a graphic of a "Thumbs up" sign when starting the program, is simple to use. Upon starting the program, the user is prompted through two disclaimers, and a user guide before entering the actual program. Input the starting day and amount of days of the woman's menstrual cycle, and choose to be reminded daily, or only when the status changes from "Safe" to "Unsafe" or vice versa and you're up and running. The start of the woman's menstrual cycle is highlighted in the calendar view so the user can verify that they have their facts straight. Now, I just need to figure out how to get the needed information from my girlfriend so I can start using the program myself.
