Tahmina Rahman Recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Medical Technology

    WOODRIDGE, IL, June 5, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tahmina Rahman, MPH, MT (ASCP), Medical Technologist for Loretto Hospital, has been recognized as a VIP Member by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in medical technology.

At Loretto Hospital, a nonprofit, 187-bed hospital known for its quality-driven health care, Ms. Rahman serves as a medical technologist, specializing in drug susceptibility testing. Employing her 14 years of experience and expertise in microbiology and medical laboratory science, she also oversees infection cultures, reports to physicians about which antibiotics best treat infections, ensures quality control, and prepares policies and procedures.

Previously, Ms. Rahman was part of the implementation team for the laboratory information system at Mercy Hospital & Medical Center and worked in the information technology department. She has also done public speaking on the causes and treatments of sickle cell anemia.

Attributing her success to her mentors and the support she received from her laboratory team, Ms. Rahman became involved in her profession through her interest in microbiology. She gained experience working in several hospitals in the microbiology and hematology laboratories.

In 2007, Ms. Rahman earned a Master of Science in public health from Benedictine University. In 1998, she received a Bachelor of Science in medical laboratory technology from the University of Illinois at Chicago, graduating with honors. Ms. Rahman had previously earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from the same university. In addition to her academic education, she has received accreditation in her field and is a certified medical technologist, conferred by the American Society for Clinical Pathology in 1998. She is also a consultant on the Infection Control Committee of Loretto Hospital. In the future, Ms. Rahman hopes to move forward in her field and develop her knowledge in the blood bank and chemistry arenas.
