BARCELONA, SPAIN, June 07, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A new exhibition devoted to the work of British photographer and photojournalist Martin Parr is now open in Barcelona.
Taking place at the Centre de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona (CCCB), the display is entitled Souvenir: Martin Parr, Photography and Collecting.
The exhibition will explore Parr's work as a photographer and collector in the context of the touristic experience, which the organisers have described as "the reunifying stage of modern life".
Born in Epsom, the photographer has received international acclaim for producing innovative pictures that appear to question and satirise aspects of modern life. His subjects are often provincial and suburban scenes in England.
According to the CCCB, the exhibition will consider whether Parr's images "intervene in reality at an analytical level or whether it consists in recording percussive images that are in general shocking, grotesque or outright kitsch".
The standard cost of entry to a single exhibition at the centre is EUR5 (GBP3.90), but visitors can pay EUR7 if they wish to visit two or more.
Opening hours are between 10:00 to 20:00 local time, Tuesday to Sunday.
People with an interest in photography can head to LateRooms.com for a wide variety of hotels in Barcelona, including the ME Barcelona.
