    LONDON, ENGLAND, July 23, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Great North Run is the largest and most famous event in the Great Run series and is renowned as the most popular half-marathon in the world. The event was first run in 1981 with just 5,000 participants but has now grown to over 54,000 runners last year. The route is ran from Newcastle to the coastal town of South Shields passing over the Tyne Bridge with live music, refreshments and thousands of cheering supporters turning out to enjoy the event.
