Denise B. Seastrunk, RN, CNS, Ph.D., Recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Counseling

    NIPOMO, CA, July 26, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Denise B. Seastrunk, Registered Nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialist at Counseling into Wellness, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing.

Dr. Seastrunk was inspired by her parents' example to establish a career in the medical field, and has gained 27 years of experience working as a registered nurse and clinical nurse specialist. For the past three years, she provided psychotherapy at Counseling into Wellness, where she helps clients who are suffering from grief, loss and depression. She combines medical and psychological counseling to treat individuals with post-traumatic stress syndrome and anxiety disorders. Dr. Seastrunk specializes in bereavement counseling and in helping people who are coping with chronic illness and pain. She also offers couples counseling.

As a practicing nurse for 15 years, Dr. Seastrunk specialized in medical surgery and infertility. She now draws upon that experience as an adjunct psychology professor at Brandman University in Santa Maria, Calif., where she conducts lectures in psychology and human sexuality, and teaches three classes per year. Her work history also includes a stint at the Omega Institute in New Orleans, La., where she served as a recovery room nurse and a mental health nurse.

Dr. Seastrunk earned a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in 2009. She holds a Master of Science in mental health nursing from Texas Woman's University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from LSU Health Sciences Center. She keeps current in her field as a member of The California Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, American Nurses Association and American Psychological Association. In her spare time, she volunteers at a local animal shelter. In the future, Dr. Seastrunk hopes to establish a consulting practice and work in a hospital setting.
