SAN MARCOS, CA, August 21, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Adults and recent high school graduates who are interested in working in the Meeting and Event planning field will be able to get their start through an innovative program offered by California State University San Marcos (CSUSM). CSUSM offers a one semester Meeting and Event Planning Certificate, which is currently accepting applicants to attend individual courses or complete the full series and receive a certificate. The full program can be completed in just one semester, making it a quick way to prepare for a rapidly expanding career field.
Students interested in enrolling for the Fall 2012 semester may attend a free open house at the CSUSM Temecula campus on August 21, 2012. This session will provide basic information about the event planner certification answered by program faculty.
The certificate program is ideal for those interested in learning more about the meeting and event planning industry, those currently working in the industry, professionals with a responsibility for planning meetings and other events, business owners, hospitality industry workers and many others.
The program features a variety of courses, which can be taken together or individually, including: Fundamentals of Event Planning; Legal Issues for Event Planners; Food and Beverage Essentials; and Finance and Budgeting Essentials. In addition to the core coursework, Career Perspectives courses are offered to provide students with a breadth of real world knowledge and experience. These courses include: Event Marketing, Planning Non Profit Events, Wedding Planning and many others.
Courses are taught by experienced industry professionals delete. Current instructors include a Catering Manager for Embassy Suites, an owner of an exclusive event company, a respected lawyer with experience in the hospitality field and several other industry leaders. The certificate program is an industry approved program and offers points toward CMP (Certified Meeting Planner) and CSEP (Certified Special Events Professional) exams.
CSUSM is pleased to offer a variety of information sessions every month at its San Marcos and Temecula campuses. September sessions will include information on the university's accelerated nursing degree and RN-to-BSN programs.
