Kevin R. Marcy: Georgia Funeral Director Launches Full Service Funeral Home for Pets

    /24-7PressRelease/ - KENNESAW, GA, July 13, 2007 - Pet Dreams was founded to provide families who have lost a dear pet an alternative to leaving them at their local vet for cremation or disposal. Pet Dreams is the first funeral home and cremation service dedicated to pets in the area. The idea came after Kevin's mother, Jane, lost her dog to a long term illness. There were limited resources to assist her with the final disposition and no resources at all available to plan a meaningful tribute her beloved dog "Baby". So Kevin, who is a licensed funeral director and pet lover, began to research the possibility of opening a business that would assist families in planning a memorable good-bye. He wanted a business that will also promote the healing of the pet owners, who experience grief just as anyone experiences grief when they lose a loved one. So Kevin and wife Gina found a small historical home and converted it into a cozy memorial center for families who have lost a beloved pet. The facility is very similar to the old neighborhood funeral home of the past with a large front porch and welcoming atmosphere. This quaint facility has a comfortable chapel and viewing room, as well as an arrangement office and merchandise room. Pet Dreams offers several cremation and burial packages from a very simple cremation package to a full funeral, including a viewing. The center also has a full line of pet urns, pet caskets, memorial markers, keepsake jewelry, pet grief cards as well as a resource area that includes books and literature on pet loss and pet grief. Much of this information is directed to children. Pet Dreams also offers pre-arrangements and pre-payment, just like a traditional funeral home.

With nearly 20 years of funeral service experience, Kevin has taken a caring and dignified approach to help grieving families say "good-bye" in the same manner that they would for any member of the family. About Kevin Marcy and his family
Kevin and wife Gina are residents of Acworth, GA and have two sons, Wade (14) and Reed (11), and dog, Sissy. Kevin is a 5th generation funeral director whose family funeral home was established in Ohio in 1868. He worked for Winkenhofer Funeral Home, in Cobb County, GA as their pre-need manager for several years in the 1990's and later became the general manager of the Cremation Society of the South, the market leader in cremation. Kevin was also instrumental in starting Georgia's first "affordable" style funeral home, called SouthCare Memorial Chapel, also in Cobb County, GA. In 2003, Kevin founded FuneralStaff, the first placement service for funeral directors in the country. Today FuneralStaff is still the largest staffing firm in funeral service.

Gina (Adams) Marcy was raised in Acworth, GA and has lived in the area all her life. She is a graduate of North Cobb High School and is a graduate of Kennesaw State, in Kennesaw, GA. Gina has worked in finance for Worldspan in Atlanta since 1990.
