FORT WORTH, TX, November 05, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On the evening of Oct. 17, DFW Elite Toy Museum held a Grand Opening party to unveil its latest exhibit, Race Cars, featuring small and large-scale model cars, various racing items and special memorabilia. Good fun in the service of a good cause, the event's $10 per person recommended donations went to King Charles Caviler Spaniel Rescue group.
"We had a sensational turnout in both humans and furry friends for the grand opening," said Ron Sturgeon, the proprietor of Fort Worth, TX only dog-friendly vintage toy museum who co-hosted the event along with Saginaw State Farm Agent Linda Allen.
"The race car exhibit has generated so much positive feedback since it opened that we are going to hold it over until January of 2013," said Sturgeon
The undeniable stars of the exhibit are a collection of quarter scale gasoline powered Jeron racers that the museum recently acquired. Created by a Ron Philips and Lee Root, the centerpiece of the Jeron collection is the world's only complete Jeron V-12 Ferrari model, a prototype that was destined for wider production when Jeron went out of business. Exquisitely engineered by uncompromising artisans, the Jerons are among the world's most beautiful quarter scale working automotive models and are capable of speeds of up to 100 mph.
The exhibition also includes vintage Indianapolis 500 programs dating back to 1935, including a special 1958 Indy program signed by many drivers in that year's event, as well as may scale models of famous Indy open wheel racers signed by some of Indy's legendary drivers. Guests also enjoyed seeing the full size exotic sports cars that are on the garage side of the museum.
The new exhibit fits in well with DFW Elite Toy Museum's collection, which features more than 3,000 vintage models, pedal cars and toys, mostly with an automotive theme. The museum also has antique models and rare toy motorcycles, helicopters and ships, and offers free tours of its entire collection. Admission to the museum is free.
